No Reservations, No Regrets…

I woke up this morning thanking the Lord for allowing me to see another day. I gave LJN a body hug before getting out of bed. I tried to focus in on today’s to do list, but I could only think about my niece and the conversation that we had yesterday. I knew that once again she had to gear herself up to go back to work. Thank you for flying with us today... I can see her flashing that warm beautiful smile of hers to each departing passenger. Her heart has been so heavy after each visit with her brother and she expressed that it has become increasing difficult for her to return to work. My niece is truly blessed to work for an airline that has been generous and very supportive during difficult family crises.

You see she is going to loose her oldest brother who has at times been a father to her in the days when their dad was absent, he has been the piano player for her and the rest of her siblings and the person that she talked to almost every day. In my conversation with her yesterday through her words and her tears she said Auntie I can say that I have no reservations, no regrets and will cherish each day, every minuet and all the hours that I spent with him… it is well with my soul.

Let it be well with all of us, make peace with any person be it an enemy, a friend or a family member. Don’t hold a grudge for it will only hurt you, learn to forgive that person who you feel has hurt you, seek that persons forgiveness, kiss and make up for tomorrow is not promised to us… do it now.

Tell her Again, Tell me again, and Say it again…

He whispers it in her ear, it startled her. Her eyes began to soften as she focused in on his face.

He said from the start that she would never hear those words spoken unless they were really
true.

He told her that these words may not be spoken very often and that she would know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he would always be there…until death do we part.

He knows that these words are not said to her as much as she would like to hear them or needs to hear them… for him they will forever be the same.

This has never been his need… from the start he presented her with you should always know this. Now he understands her need… So he whispers to her I love you!

And he will tell her Again… Tell me Again… Say it again…

Another Wedding Anniversary...

Out with the old and in with the new!

I have recently noted that just as our Wedding Anniversary is approaching we seem to have one, two, and (sometimes) three arguments. Having an argument a week or three days before your anniversary is a real let-down. However I would not trade in any of those arguments for anything else that could happen in a marriage. Such as infidelity, mental or physical abuse, emotional infidelity, your spouse telling you that he/she doesn’t love you anymore and wants a divorce. I know that this may seem strange to some, but I truly believe that these arguments are meant to happen, especially at this time.

I can not exactly tell you when or how we developed into placing some of our problems/issues under a rock and then proclaiming that we had reached a resolution to the problem/issue. I discovered the reason why we did this was because we did not want to admit to our self or to each other that we were deficient in any way. Instead of grasping a hold of the deficiencies and fear of having them, we just placed them under that familiar rock. We would both agree that the issue was resolved until in an argument we were met with the same “buzz” words that were so commonly associated with “THE RESOLVED ISSUE”, much to the surprise of both of us we finally realized that this time we had only one choice and that was to face the deficiencies in our self and in our relationship, so that we could make things right.

I now see those arguments as an “airing out” if you will. Now when our anniversary day comes I have a great sense of wholeness with myself and in our relationship that is coupled with a feeling of a new beginning. We have developed the right tools in which we can now take our relationship even higher than we could have imagined!

For me our anniversary day doesn’t just represent the number of years that we have been married to each other, but rather the number of years that we have been building a relationship with one another. I now view our anniversary as a ringing out of the old and a ringing in of the new… what an exciting feeling that is!

Thank you LJN for loving me unconditionally for 36 years!

Begin by loving again

Begin by loving again,
Begin by loving again;
When all that once mattered
Seems ruined and shattered,
Then begin by loving again.

The Lord sometimes gives and sometimes takes away,
There's happiness followed by pain;
But when hearts are breaking,
There's joy for the taking
In learning to love once again...

The truth is that feeling what love is can never compare to knowing what love is...

Feelings fade, knowing last forever...
Feelings change, knowing stands fast…
Feelings betray you, knowing sustains you…
Feelings burn the fuel of love, knowing love creates it…
Feelings give you a ticket to the concert, knowing love creates the gift, inspires the artist to compose stage and perform.

You want to know what love is…., you want to know it so well, that nothing can make me doubt it, oh nothing! Don’t trust in what you feel, go with what you know.

Know and Experience….
