Flash Back

It is funny when you have a flash back it takes you to that place and time in an instant, you feel like you are being propelled back in time.

I was taken back to my mother-in-laws home the Saturday before Easter. I watched my mother-in-law and my sister-in-laws trying on hats that they purchased to wear to church on Sunday.

There they were three grown women laughing, talking and giggling as if they were little girls playing dress up. I knew that I was witnessing something very special. It made me want to join this group, even though I was never really big on wearing hats to church. As time went on I ended up joining this hat group.

Oh how I basked in this holiday flashback moment.

Have a wonderful Easter with your family and friends!

Off To a Slow Start

Yes I am off to a slow start this year courtesy of my MS. If you know anything about MS I believe that I am experiencing an MS attack or better known as in the MS community as exacerbations. Hopefully I will know for sure before the week is out.

There is an MS saying which has helped me to develop a philosophy of living with Multiple Sclerosis and it is simply this MS does not define who I am. I am certain that this mindset has played a role as to why I don’t share my MS side of life with you. Having said all of that I simply want to say Happy New Year.

If you feel like you’re off to a slow start this year rest assured I can tell you that some new year’s resolutions will be kept and some will not and changes will be made. There will be set backs, false starts and decisions that will need to be made… it is called life. So don’t dwell on the negative things.

As you embark upon the New Year remember to surround yourself with positive people, savor each moment of everyday and make a commitment to help others, by doing so you will end up helping yourself. There are many organizations that need your help so get involved in a cause and learn the true meaning of forgiveness.

I can’t wait to get back up on my feet and embrace 2013!

We Look To You…

First let me say that words cannot express the deep sadness that I feel for the lives lost at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Ct.  My thoughts and prayers are with the families as you face the difficult days ahead.  James 5:16 reminds us that the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much… He promised never to leave you alone, thank you Lord Jesus for your undying word!

Lord we look to you for comfort even as we question why. Another school shooting leaving young lives cut short. We are only left to imagine or wonder what their lives might have been. We see the photos of the victims and we weep and mourn their loss. They are not strangers to us in a strange town or place, they are our children. And we know that this town this place could have been our town or community the place that we call home. The faces of the victims that we see could have very well been our son, our daughter, our grandchild, our mother, our father, our Aunt our Uncle, our grandmother, our grandfather, our cousin, our niece or our nephew.

We mourn together again...

Trish

But our Lord sees our tears and comforts our weary hearts. -2 Corinthians 1:3-5

Vote!

Our Thoughts and Prayers: First let me start off by saying that our thoughts and prayers are with the people who have lost loved ones and suffered what is seemly insurmountable damage in the wake of hurricane Sandy. For us it was very sobering to see the images of damage and destruction in NY, NJ and CT.

Last year we moved to the beach resort community of West Ocean City, MD, which is five minutes from the beach of Ocean City. The first year that we were here we experienced hurricane Irene only losing some siding on one side of our home and this time with Sandy no property damage at all! There were some very frightening moments of rising waters that lapped at the base of the steps leading into the front and back entrance to our home. And twenty-six hours without power… we feel truly blessed!

Please make a donation to the Red Cross or volunteer if you can to help the people whose lives have been devastated by this storm. www.Redcross.org and click on Donate! And spread the word!

Vote!

I hope that you will exercise your right to vote on November 6, 2012! Think hard about the man and ballot issues that you are voting for in this election. And yes every vote counts and that means your vote!

In January of this year I wrote a little something called I see a man and I thought that I would share it with you.

I see a man who loves his country.
I see a man who loves his job.
I see a man who has a spring in his step.
I see a man who has a smile on his face and not because he holds the top job or because he wields great power.
I see a man who believes in God, respects his wife and loves his children.
I see a man who has a heart for people just like me and you.
I see a man who experienced some of the same struggles as you and I.
I see a man who was born to be president… and is.
I see a man who cares.
I see a man who still should be the leader of our land.
When you go to the polls please think of this man… Barack Obama!

Happy Voting!

Trish

Our Dreams

I am a big believer in following your dreams.  I have on a few occasions penned my thoughts on this subject and I find myself doing it again.  I suppose because I am still following mine.

What would life be like without our dreams?

When we dream small we live a small safe life, medium size dreams bring medium results… Are you sure you will be happy with that? Big dreams take us to a place with rewards that we could have never imagined.

To become a big dreamer of what can be you must be able to fully embrace all of the wonderful possibilities that your dreams can bring. Just imagine being paid to do something that you dreamed about doing all of your life… getting up every morning and doing what you love is not overrated, it is a dream fulfilled.

You must believe in yourself and be ready to follow your dream. Pray for guidance and trust that you have received divine answers to help you along your way.  Never let go of your dreams and never take no for an answer. If you don’t believe in what you can do then how do you expect others to believe in you?

So go ahead, get out that piece of paper and pen your dreams, you know what they are; and remember to dream BIG!

Last days of summer

The days have started to get shorter, there is a slight chill in the evening air and more rainy days are a part of the weather forecast. Yes summer is coming to a close. We are now headed back to school, watching football, eating comfort foods, and fall activities on crisp days.

This year our summer has been filled with family visits, beach days, and exploring the local area that we are now residing in. Over all it has been a very nice summer, but I must say that I am looking forward to the fall and winter season.

Our last days of summer will end with a couple’s weekend at our home which will include a barbeque, dinner at a local restaurant and a visit to Assateague Island.

How will you spend your last days of summer? Please let me know and include your favorite summer photo(s) past and present with your story!

I look forward to hearing about your last days of summer events and seeing some of your favorite summer photos!

Happy fall!

Unpredictable

I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July! We have been busy this month with our first 4th of July barbeque at our new home, overnight visits from family members and trips to the beach. I can’t believe how quickly this month has gone by. Well before July is over I would like to share with you some thoughts that I had a few days ago.

One morning as I was opening up the doors and windows on the sun porch my eyes were immediately directed towards the southern sky, ominous dark clouds were floating all around. I began to contemplate whether or not to close up the doors and windows since the weather patterns at the beach can be so unpredictable.

The northern sky was quite a different scene, sunlight, blue skies and puffy white clouds.

But eventually the entire sky became dark and the rain came down. As I watched this contrasting natural act I found it to be an excellent example of how life can be at times. Bright, sunny, and warm, with a slight breeze to cool you off at just the right time, and then the dark rain clouds roll in.

There are times in all of our lives when things happen that make us feel lost and alone, but this too will pass away. The dark clouds will fade away and the white puffy billowy clouds will return. The rain will come and refresh your life and the sun will once again shine upon your face, just the way it brightly shines up in the sky.

Trish
